Dear Friends,
We are well into the second semester of school.
This past Friday Bonnie's Kindergarten class along with the first grade class celebrated the 100th day of school this year. Her kids are doing real well this quarter, everyone reading at some level. Bonnie asks prayer for next year as she would love to do more language study as she is not as strong as she would like to be in Zarma and she is very weak in French. She would love to do it soon so she can begin to more a part of the Sunday morning worship services and Weekly Bible studies. She is wondering if next year would be a good time. If so, then she would like to give up K for the year so she can put her full energy into language study. Thus we would need someone else to take her class.
As you may have heard back in Nov there was trouble in Cote d'Ivoire causing the missionary school there of 40 years to have to evacuate. This was the second one in the last 3 years. So, the school has decided it would not reopen again. A big disappointment to many staff and students there. But, a Godsend for us at Sahel. Through it all we received one couple and two singles for short-term and another couple for long term, 5 staff in total. Tyler was able to take Jonathan's math class freeing him up to put more time into his books and other responsibilities. Another couple is soon to arrive in March. He is a youth pastor. The kids really need someone outside of the school with the time to spend with them to encourage and challenge them in the ways of the Lord. And there are still others who have been evacuated from ICA who are still searching for God's leading, maybe Sahel, maybe somewhere else. Please pray with these folks as they seek the Lord's guidance and for us that we will be patient and await their decisions.
On the home front: Russell and Tony have both decided to return to the US this summer, Russell to start Technical college in SC and Tony to do his senior year in Aurora IL, living with Bonnie's sister. There will be some big changes in our household this next year. Pray for everyone's adjustments. Ours, Timmy's, the boys'. the families the boys will be staying with, ...
We will be home the month of July to attend Jonathan's folks' 50th wedding anniversary celebration with the family. At the same time we will get both boys settled in their new living quarters. If time permits we may make it up to Wisconsin, but at this point we can't say. Pray that we will be able to.
Continue to pray that we can find someone to help Jonathan out with more of his responsibilities. Most days he comes home really drained, sometimes a little dizzy. But, since we last wrote Jonathan has acquired an assistant to aide him in the maintenance department, someone from our church who he really admires. He also has a good "secretary" to help him with the bookwork. But, even with all this help, he can't always make the best use of these two as he doesn't have time to show them the ropes. But, little by little they are learning.
One job Jonathan is not able to get to, but people would love that he could, is construction. He has had to put this on hold. We have lots of building projects that could be happening if we had someone who knew French and was gifted in this area or construction. One thing the parents would love us to construct is some playground equipment. But, Jonathan has to turn them down because noone has come up with a plan, nor is there someone to oversee it. There are also several bldgs we would like to see built, one being a new dorm. We have outgrown our present one. Even this year we had to turn some people away. Pray for us in this area.
Sincerely,
Jonathan and Bonnie Moore
